Kathmandu, In a groundbreaking development for high-altitude trekkers, the Korean company ‘ALT.OX’ has unveiled a state-of-the-art oxygen-generating mask tailored for Nepal’s challenging trekking environments. The product was introduced during a launch event held in Kathmandu’s bustling Thamel district, in collaboration with the Korea Tour and Trekking Operators Association of Nepal (KTTOAN).
Gwangho Ha, CEO of ALT.OX, emphasized the mask’s significance for trekkers venturing above 2,500 meters. This lightweight solution, weighing only 42 grams, offers a practical alternative to cumbersome oxygen cylinders, providing up to one hour of supplemental oxygen. The mask’s design is certified by the Korean government, ensuring its reliability and efficiency.
ALT.OX has been developing and distributing this mask for two years, with successful entries into markets in Japan, the Philippines, and Vietnam. Nepal is now a focal point due to its popularity as a trekking destination, especially in high-altitude regions.
The mask functions automatically, simplifying the breathing process for users at high altitudes. To use, individuals simply open the packet and remove the seals from the plastic compartments. Its user-friendly design caters to men, women, and children alike.
Prior to its official release, the mask was tested at Everest Base Camp and other high-altitude locales in Nepal, proving its effectiveness in both trekking and emergency situations. Kim Migon, a celebrated mountaineer who has summited all 14 peaks above 8,000 meters, serves as the mask’s brand ambassador, adding to its credibility.
Wangchu Sherpa, Managing Director of Trekking Camp Nepal, will spearhead the distribution of the mask across Nepal, ensuring it reaches trekkers and climbers in need of reliable high-altitude support.
